Hot Tub Tips - Frequently asked questions
What size do I need?
The size of Hot Tub you choose is entirely up to you but we would recommend that you pick a size suited to your lifestyle. For example, if there are 3-5 people in your family and you don't entertain very often, a medium sized Hot Tub for 5-6 people will probably best suit your needs. If you're a large family or you have guests over fairly often (or plan to once you have a Hot Tub!), you can go for anything up to a 10 seater Hydropool; perfect for Hot Tub parties!
Where should I locate my spa?
In the past few years the trend has been for most Hot Tubs to be installed outdoors and used all year round. If the idea of enjoying your Hot Tub under the stars on a peaceful winter night appeals you should definitely consider this option; the sheer exhilaration of taking a Hot Tub on a cold winter's day far outweighs the small operating cost. If you choose to locate your Hot Tub outside we would recommend that it should be located as near to a door as possible so it can be quickly reached in winter.
If the above doesn't sound right for you, your Hot Tub can be installed inside. We would recommend installing your Hot Tub somewhere other than a bathroom as guests may not feel comfortable sitting in your Hot Tub in a bathroom setting. Indoor Hot Tubs are generally installed off a bedroom or in a solarium.
Which jet package should I choose?
Even without high speed jets, the buoyancy of gently swirling hot water will be enough to sooth and relax tired limbs. If, however, you want to relieve the discomfort of an aching back or neck, or you plan to entertain in your Hot Tub, you should consider a model that has several jets on at least one seat and maybe an air bubbler which massages every part of your body.
Can I lock my Hot Tub?
Most Hydropool packages include a heavy duty, insulated locking safety hardcover to keep the heat in and unsupervised children and animals out.
Can I take my Hot Tub with me when I move home?
Yes, due to the Hot Tub being totally self-contained, either you can re-locate the Hot Tub whenever you wish or alternatively, we could do it for you.
How often should the water be changed?
This varies depending on number of users, frequency of users, water chemistry, method of filtration and whether or not the Hot Tub is fitted with an ozonator. As a general guideline though, B.I.S.H.T.A. the industry's watchdog recommends between 2-4 months, although it is not unusual for owners of pressurized filtration Hot Tubs to change their spa water every 6 months.
Does the heater need to be kept constantly turned on?
No, unlike many other Hot Tubs that have 24 hour continuous heat / filtration pumps, all Hydropool and Serenity Spas have programmable timers as the heating / filtration cycles only need to run for 8 out of 24 hours. This combined with the high density full foam insulation on all Hydropool and Serenity Spas make them incredibly inexpensive to run, normally between £2.00 - £3.00 per week.
